Development of a regional hydrogen concept within the framework of the HyExpert hydrogen region Rügen-Stralsund
After successfully completing the HyStarter phase and being selected as a HyExpert region, the Rügen-Stralsund region would like to develop into a hydrogen model region in northeastern Germany. The integrated claim to regional hydrogen production and use is now to be concretized in the coastal region and processed in an application-oriented manner.
In three lead projects at the locations Stralsund-Andershof, Kluis on Rügen and the seaports Stralsund and Mukran Port, concrete potentials for hydrogen production and use are to be identified and viable concepts for their implementation are to be developed. The projects cover the areas of generation, heat and mobility as well as the application portfolio of hydrogen in the maritime logistics industry. Well-founded statements on application scenarios for the areas of technology, economy and legal framework conditions will be developed in order to initiate further implementation by the partners involved.

Determination/analysis of the generation and utilization potentials of renewable energies for the locations of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund-Andershof, Kluis on the island of Rügen, and the seaports of Stralsund and Mukran
Investigation of various electrolysis technologies for their suitability as heat generators and determination of hydrogen generation potentials in various scaling scenarios depending on the utilization paths in the heat sector and in mobility
Investigation of possible hydrogen applications in site-related process chains, taking into account the various modes of transport (rail, heavy goods transport, shipping)
Identification of potentials for a future hydrogen-based port orientation and derivation/identification of future needs in regional and excursion shipping
Overview of economic parameters: Investment costs, hydrogen production costs, heat prices, operating costs, cost-benefit analysis
Organization/ content preparation and follow-up of workshops and events in cooperation with the client
Development of a project brochure to document the results
