In 2018, shipping caused more CO2 emissions than Germany as a whole.[1] In figures, that's 1.076 million metric tons of CO2 equivalents and 2.76 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.[2] Efforts to reduce climate-damaging emissions are underway.
