cruh21 becomes part of the Drees & Sommer Group: Green hydrogen for the energy transition
Press release, Hamburg and Stuttgart, 20.09.2023.
It is the smallest element and yet plays such a large role in the energy revolution: sustainably produced hydrogen is seen as a beacon of hope for a climate-neutral future. In order to support the public and private sectors in the transformation of the energy system, Drees & Sommer SE, a consultancy firm specialising in construction and real estate, and cruh21 GmbH, a strategic project consultancy for the renewable energy sector, have joined forces. Since 7 July 2023, cruh21 has been a wholly owned subsidiary of the Drees & Sommer Group.
The 24 employees of cruh21 specialise in consulting and conceptual design for green hydrogen, offshore hydrogen and sector coupling projects. Since its foundation in 2019, the company has been one of the leading consulting firms in this segment in Germany. "We focus primarily on the early phases of project development. Our experts advise in the areas of regulatory affairs, licensability, strategy, concepts, feasibility and communication," explains managing director Jimmie Langham. "We work for a wide range of clients. We develop sustainable solutions for the energy and hydrogen sectors, industry, inland and seaports, as well as cities and municipalities." cruh21 has already worked successfully with Drees & Sommer on several projects.
For Drees & Sommer partner Björn Jesse, the merger with cruh21 is the logical consequence of previous cooperation: "Without green hydrogen, there can be no transition away from fossil energies. Whether in industry, the transport sector or the long-term storage of renewable electricity - the transition to a more climate-friendly economy requires interdisciplinary knowledge and implementation expertise. With cruh21, we are positioning ourselves even better in this dynamically developing market. Our combined strengths in consulting, planning and implementation will enable us to support our clients even more comprehensively in the future," continues Jesse.
Under the leadership of Jimmie Langham, Dr Ursula Prall and Meiko Neumann, cruh21 will continue to develop its portfolio as "cruh21 - Part of Drees & Sommer". In the early project phases, cruh21 will play to its strengths in consulting and concept development, while Drees & Sommer will contribute its experience and expertise in the various areas of the energy industry in the planning and implementation phases.
