HyExpert- and HyPerfomer Conference in Stralsund

On July 11, 2023, the HyExpert final presentation of the Rügen-Stralsund hydrogen region took place in Stralsund. The event attracted around 40 key stakeholders from various sectors. Among the participants were representatives from SWS Standwerke Stralsund, Verkehrsgesellschaft Vorpommern-Rügen (VVR), Energiewerk Rügen, Seehafen Stralsund, and Mukran Port FRS Windcat. In addition, numerous other important players from the regional energy industry and industry networks, as well as representatives from state and local authorities, also attended. The broad participation demonstrated the strong interest and support for the development of the Rügen-Stralsund hydrogen region.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Alexander Badrow, Lord Mayor of the Hanseatic City of Stralsund. Subsequently, State Secretary Ines Jesse, responsible for economy, infrastructure, tourism, and labor in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, also welcomed the participants and emphasized the strategic relevance of the Rügen-Stralsund hydrogen region. The program continued with the final presentation by the project team from cruh21, consisting of Martin Wilferth, Leopold Krings, Verena Hertzsch, Cäcilia Gätsch, and Benita Stahlmann. The team presented the results and achievements of the HyExpert phase, followed by Dennis Lüdtke, the hydrogen coordinator of the district, providing an outlook on the upcoming HyPerformer phase. The presented results showcased the tremendous potential of hydrogen technology for the region and reinforced the decision to position Rügen-Stralsund as a frontrunner in the energy transition.

After the presentations, there was open conversations and networking sessions between the participants and the project team. This part of the event also provided an opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration among the various stakeholders of the Rügen-Stralsund hydrogen region.

The HyExpert initiative's final presentation marked a significant milestone on the path to sustainable development and strengthened the position of the Rügen-Stralsund hydrogen region as a frontrunner in the energy transition. With the start of the HyPerformer phase, further exciting projects and progress can be expected, potentially making the region a leading hydrogen region in Germany.
